It is a mistake to use any softeware from Apple. It will work for a while until Apple decides you haven't bought enough of their overpriced hardware. Then they sabotage your existing software. "Just plug it in and it works!" BAH! It is a tragedy that I have to rate this software as one star; it doesn't deserve that astronomically high a rating.

It is alright for a basic editor app. Would love for the videos to be saved in 4k60p like on iphones.

  • Good Enough

There's not much to be said that hasn't been said in other reviews, but I'll say it more: Long download times, better options, annoying updates. If you're just doing a 1 time school project or something that you don't really care about the quality of, you can use this. If you really want to make something look GOOD then put in the investment for final cut pro. Final Cut Pro is undisputably the best video editing software and I will die on that hill. But, iMovie is free so it's good enough.

The only flaw I've seen is sometimes the video won't play. You just have to turn off and on wifi to fix it. Otherwise it's great!

I have a MacBook Pro 14 with the M1 Max, and this application does not seem optimized for the chipset. It is slow and laggy and often freezes. Devs need to really make sure this is for Apple Silicon as it seems as if it is meant for the Intel x86-64 ISA.
  • Good software easy to use

Highly recommend for those quick edits. They really need to add HDR export support. The ipad and iphone have it why not MacOS.
  • Outdated

With all of the new editing apps for IG and Tiktok and the like, you’d think the creators of iMovie would make some major updates. Maybe like, 12 years ago, iMovie was pretty cool, now everything is just outdated.
