  • A fundamental shortcoming

iMovie doesnt allow you to change the video dimensions/aspect ratio.
  • A Shadow of the iMovie of Old

    By Charles Fr.
The current iMovie really is a shadow of the '06 version. The old version was good enough to be used by professional TV studios, but simple enough to be used at home. The current version ditched many of the more professional featuers in a misguided persuit of false simplicity and pretty UI. Various shadows cast of UI elements actually make it harder to make precise edits. The playhead is difficut to manage. Controling the volumn of audio is now more difficult and less precise. I don't know why the did this, but it's a terrible app.

Having used Adobe Premiere for years, then not being able to use it on my new Macbook Air 2020, Monterey. I can say that this program, already downloaded on my machine,is possibly the most awkward program I've ever seen. Few of the features just work when you try them, and then when I accidentally changed the screen, I couldn't get it back to where it had been before. I'll be downloading another free app with higher rating, or perhaps even paying for another. Wow, Apple, just wow. You could do better.
  • Highly Upset.!!!!!!!

Our only complaint is we think there should be a pen. iMovie is so fun. We've used it for so many school prodjects and more.

This app truly does make editing so much easier! It's a great way to make films.
  • Its terrible

    By David Vote
They do things that sounds like it might be intuitive and accessible, but practically, nothing really makes sense. Why is the export button not located in the files tab in the menu bar but hidden under some other obscure menu tab under some random tab called share? I'm sorry what? I had to google just to figure out how to save a project as a video file. Tell me why it's located under share again? Just little things like these. The inability to toggle snapping in the timeline (I promise I have snapping unchecked in the menu! shortcut is also N if you don't believe me. But I can't for the life of me get any precision smaller than 1 second forwards and back. It's a terrible piece of software. It's a brick with basic simple functions that somehow even gets obscured
  • Nonsensical Flaws

    By nannxnsndbfhrheje
Imovie has some ridiculous flaws that I have no idea why it is the case. For instance, you cannot remove the black bars in portrait videos. You also cannot add text without a stupid fading animation. These things are so trivial but annoying at the same time. This seems like Apple's crooked strategy to make people buy Final Cut pro instead.
