  • Great but new update problem

    By ALXW01
I have my OS fully up to date as i do on all apps. I have substantial memory available as well. Since the 10.6.3 updarte my finalcut runs at a snail pace even while editing within proxy. i get the beach vollyball everytime i press play and with every mynute edit. Adds hours to my edit process and is slowing my business down. this is my lively hood and will not tolotate another week of this. Will delete.

There are a LOT of great things about FCPX: No subscription Tons of built in effects and transitions Synergy with Motion 5 Crazy fast and efficient with the M1 chips Rarely crashes/very reliable Right now, however, it does not know how to process compound clips IF YOU HAVE AN M1 COMPUTER, and it freaks out and gives you the color wheel of death. It freezes constantly anytime a compound clip is present. Compound clips are part of the foundation to the FCPX workflow. Until Apple fixes this, it'll be a broken/incomplete MacOS Pro App in the M1 ecosystem. I hope they fix it soon, because it's making my $3000 macbook pro investment worthless right now.

Get ready to waste countless hours on a project that FCP will fail to export. Go with Adobe, this is trash.
  • 11 years in

Been with FCPX for 11 years. It's been an amazing progam but one that needs feature updates if it is to continue. Our editing team produces feature length programs for PBS and dozens of marketing videos each year. Final Cut is still the fastest, most reliable NLE we have ever used on a Mac. However, the features we have been requesting for years (audio mixing in the app - ability to work with DAWs directly - collaboration tools) are still not coming and it feels like the team at Apple are at a stand still. I miss the days when Final cut was on the front page of Apple talking about the latest film that was cut using thier program, I miss seeing them at NAB, I want to know they will be with for the long haul. I'm excited by the competition and hope Apple will rise to the occasion.
  • Way over priced with a lot missing

While some parts of this program are really nice. It is lacking in many area's. They need to add a feature like lumafusion with some type of musice plug in option. I paid 69 dollars for storyblocks plug in for one year on luma fusion which is very easy to search and port in. I have use many different video editing software. Honestly final cut pro should be priced around 29 dollars a year if that. I would say compared to other Video editing software. It's typical apple software. Leaves you wanting more like all apple products and software and leaves you feeling like you have another bad case of buyers remorse. It's not that apple can't its they choose not too. That is the most frustrating part.
  • Do Not Purchase This Product

    By Sean says don't buy
This is a highly dysfuctional app. It will constantly crash on you, and I felt I spent most of my time staring at the spinning wheel of death. They have constant updates to fix the multitude of issues final cut has, so you will spend most of your time updating and trying to edit around it crashing on you. Even more frustrating - I bought this app and immediately started having issues with it, so I tried to return it the same day. Thier policy is that once open the app you can't return it. I tried to make it work since I am stuck with it, but it is truly so dysfunctional that I started to fall behind my schedule so I switched over to Premiere Pro which is a much better editing software and adobe has great customer service, unlike apple. I would recommend going with Premiere right off the bat.
  • Crashes, Dont Have All features

    By Crossroadjay
Crashes in the middle of the bundle that includes Logic pro etc doesnt show all the features that comes with it

Applying a transition to any stacked media no longer works in the latest update. This is a massive oversight. Please work to remedy this as soon as possible apple.
  • 10.6.2 is a slow death nightmare

    By noroweho
Lord, this is terrible, i'm on a maxed out 14inch M1 Pro and H264 exprorts that used to take minutes are now taking for ever. A 30 min video is taking over an hour! These used to take a few minutes only!
  • Excellent, if you take the time to figure it out

    By beezus70
FCPX is hands down the best editor on the market. However, you do have to take the time to figure out how it works, it's quite different from the typical track-based editing systems. Once you get it, you will be flying compared to Premiere, etc. Be patient and keep an open mind, and you will be rewarded handsomely :)
