How To Download Mela - Recipe Manager On Chromebook

If you're looking to Download Mela on your Chromebook laptop Then read the following guideline.

Mela is a simple, elegant and modern recipe manager that syncs with iCloud. SYNC Sync your recipes with iCloud, either privately (default) or by sharing a recipe library with other iCloud users. IN-APP BROWSER WITH LIVE PREVIEW Quickly save a recipe while browsing: If Mela detects a recipe on the currently viewed page, it will be displayed in Mela's native recipe viewer*, on the same screen on the iPad and a swipe-left away on the iPhone. Want to add or view a recipe from outside of Mela? No problem, just use Mela's sharing extension. FEEDS Subscribe to your favorite recipe blogs to view all the recipes in Mela's native recipe viewer*. COOK MODE The cook mode makes it easy to follow all steps while cooking, displayed using a larger font to make sure everything stays readable even when you're not right in front of your device. You can add multiple recipes to the cook mode, easily letting you switch between them. TIMERS No need to switch to another app for setting up a timer. When in cooking mode, Mela let's you easily create and manage timers. Timers come with support for Live Activities (iOS 16.1+). SCANNER Scan a recipe from a book: With the help of text recognition, you can just add it to your personal collection and view it in Mela's native recipe viewer, as any other recipe. GROCERIES Mela uses the Reminders.app to manage your grocery list. This has the advantage that you’re always able to access your grocery list on all your devices even if Mela is not installed on a specific device. CALENDAR Do your meal planning by using Mela's built-in calendar. It's managed by Calendar.app which also has the advantage that you're always able to access it on all your devices. There's also a widget, showing you the next planned meal from your calendar. ORGANIZING Recipes can be organized in categories, marked as “Favorite” or as “Want to Cook”. PRINTING Of course, Mela supports printing in case there’s a recipe you want to have on paper or save as PDF. Please note: If iCloud Sync is enabled (default), Mela will sync these items with iCloud: - Recipes - Browser bookmarks - Subscription list (feeds) Not synced: - Feed recipe entries - Browser history Groceries are always stored in Reminders.app Mela is free to download but will require a one-time purchase to unlock all features. * Extracting recipes only works for websites that support this, most of them do.

  • Quite good but not perfect

I’d like to see scanned recipes pass though a formatting step (GPT?) that can put the formatting right for me by deleting new lines etc after I scan from a PDF. I’d also like to see a GPT-powered process for PDFs as a whole so I don’t have to select anything at all, it should just import automatically. Doesn’t support the recipe keeper website which makes migration annoying. I’d like to share feeds and grocery lists with my partner too, not just recipes. There’s also a bug in the recipe scaling: put in 1 13.5oz cans of coconut milk. This doubles to 2 27oz cans of coconut milk! This is bad! 4x instead of 2x! I’d suggest adjusting the regex I assume is being used to get the amounts to not capture the oz number in this case. Edit: found a way to sync groceries! From one account, share the Mela Reminders list to the other. Then delete any unshared Mela list and boom it uses the shared one. This works well, but obviously is not obvious.

No ads, no in app purchases, exactly what I want from a tool like this. Recipes are easy to import from my phone and computer. Editing or creating my own is also simple and well done with intuitive organization of recipe sections and a good recipe skeleton without too much boilerplate. I also love that I can share html files so iMessage recipe sharing can share a link that has the organization of the app without requiring them to have the app as well. Super nice that I can share my recipes outside of the platform like that. One feature I would love to see is a dedicated way to rate a recipe that I’ve cooked. The notes section and title work well enough but it gets a bit messy and I’d love to be able to filter or sort by my ratings. There is an option to favorite recipes which I guess is the current decision for this but I think a star system or something would better solve this for me.
  • At First, I loved it, and then….

I loved this app, I looked through so many and tried several of the free versions. This one was great. Then I purchased it and it no longer could find ANY recipes on websites. I mean none. I tried it side by side with other recipe keeper apps and those could find the recipes but not this one.
  • Negatives: search funktion and sync not working between devices

Sync between two devices simply doesn’t work. I have 15 more recipes on my phone than on my iPad. Logged out of everything when I switched devices recently, and it seemed to work for a while, but now I’m back to having discrepancies. We have made several tickets but not much help from the developer. Fed up with a bad app that you have to sit scrolling up to reach the start of the list. No search function worth the name. Will probably end up going back to Paprika.

Love the app but can you streamline the grocery list a bit more? Maybe organize by type of food and if there r multiple or the same food combine them into one line
  • Takes over reminders

No matter what I do my ios reminder list is renamed Mela, even for none Mela reminders. Deleted Mela app and rebooted but reminder list still overwrites the name “Mela.”
  • A beautiful app with only one issue

After many years of trying all the top recipe managers, I think Mela is absolutely the best. It only has one issue holding it back from perfection, and I'm hopeful the developer will resolve this someday. When importing recipes (regardless of which website) more often than not the fields for Prep Time and Cooking Time do not populate and have to be filled manually. I've tried importing the same recipes using three other highly-rated recipe managers and these fields fill just fine, so it is not a problem with the websites. If you can overlook this, Mela has an absolutely gorgeous UI and a UX that addresses everything you could expect in managing, displaying and printing recipes.
  • Support is non existent and sync doesn’t work

Sync stopped working. Been emailing developer for months with no response. Apple should remove editor’s choice label. Nice app but isn’t worth beans without sync
  • Great when it works

Such a great app when it works. My spouse and I use it for meal planning, but now can’t see the recipes the other has added. Tech support is non-existent.
  • Love it mostly, but…

When I scan a recipe from a magazine or a cookbook to put into the app, there’s no way to view it full screen or zoom in to read it better when I access it. So it’s basically useless to me for that since it’s not big enough to read. Am I missing something?? It would be very tedious to take all of those kinds of recipes and input them manually. But I do love the format and layout for saving recipes that are taken from the Internet and added to the app.
