  • The Best Recipe App I’ve Found!

This is the most efficient and cost-effective recipe app I have used. I have tried (& paid for) Paprika, Any List, Grocery, and SO many others. I went to each for the ease of a particular feature (or a few) and they always managed to either change/break the feature, have another feature that made the app frustrating to use, or require a subscription to be able to use it. Crouton beautifully imports recipes from 99% of the sites I get recipes from. It brings over most of the information I need. I really only need to manually put in what I want in the notes. The last app I used did not have scaling and it was SO FRUSTRATING. The fact that it can also AUTOMATICALLY convert standard to metric within the recipe and the hands free features are GAME CHANGERS! I love that it also has the option to show the ingredients you need at that particular step while looking at the instructions. And so many ways to sort-folders, tagging, smart folders (with more than one sort option!). For an app that is billed as a “hobby,” you can tell this is someone who cooks themselves and put so much thought into the app because they use it themselves. Thank you for this app!
  • Used to be great

This used to be a great app and I used it all the time! Now it doesn’t pull recipes from websites correctly (e.g. if the recipe says “1 and 1/2 cups” it will only pull 1/2 cup). So now I can pretty much only use it as storage for links to recipes, not the recipes themselves, because I have to double check them all for errors. Great idea, poor usability, unfortunately.

I had so many recipe apps before this one and they all ticked some but not all boxes. This one ticks all! Purchased the upgrade without hesitation. The developer clearly put thought and intention into this design and it shows! Also deeply appreciate the affordability. It is so refreshing to be able to buy a digital asset with a one-time fee.

  • A “magic” app

Two times I’ve chased my wife down to show her the amazing capabilities of this app. It truly solves the problem of online recipes-my favorite recipe for instance was from Betty Crocker and in 3 different phases and steps and it was a mess to organize every time I wanted to use it. This is a dream. … Then I found out the hands free features 🤯 I’m also switching over our grocery list to this app. I would like it if it could publish to a notes note that I keep with my wife and fam, but I’ll take it.
  • Great app, some confusion on pricing

Overall this is a wonderful app. The only thing I wasn’t clear about was why the AI import was in the subscription rather than in the single time purchase. With the advancements from Apple to provide on device AI, this doesn’t seem to align with the help text explaining this requires reoccurring costs. Overall though, that’s a single feature in a wider subscription with more features and the app is great. I’d recommend it even with the confusing pieces, but depending on how much you want to use AI, some other apps may be a better choice that include that in a one-time purchase. UPDATE: With the feedback from the dev, this makes sense and I really appreciate their responsiveness. Would highly recommend this application.
  • It would be a good app….

If you could add more than five recipes on the free version. I wish this was stated from the beginning so I didn’t waste time adding and customizing recipes only to find out that this won’t be usable for me. I wanted to test this app as an alternative to my current practice of PDF’ing all my recipes to the Files app that’s neatly organized with folders. I don’t really understand the asking for tip if you’re going to paywall true functionality of the app. Overall, the features locked behind paywall aren’t worth it so that’s why recipe count is limited as well. It’s a shame because there was potential for this app and I would’ve supported via tip, but now it’s getting shelved in a folder for now and possibly deleted in near future.
  • Best Cooking App Ever. Seriously.

I’ve tried them all over the last 20 years- Key Ingredient, Chef Tap, and dozens of others. If I was creating a dream app for cooking, this is it. They’ve literally thought of everything. No joke, this is THE ONE.
  • WINK NAVIGATON WHAAAAAAT???

I was initially impressed with the no nonsense design coming from some other workable but ugly apps. Then I found wink navigation. And I’m going to tell all my friends. And I like the other stuff too but chefs kiss to this wink nav stuff. I AM A MEDIOCRE CHEF and A NOW A CROUTON FAN.
