Hear the story of how the first sparks of revolution flew in Boston, and how those sparks became an inferno that engulfed the American colonies. The architects of the revolution come alive along this historic trail as you pass sights like the Boston Common and the Old North Church, where Paul Revere’s famous lanterns once hung. Learn about the Sons of Liberty and the webs of conspiracy and unrest which once threatened to shatter Boston into a thousand pieces. Uncover the truth about misunderstood events like the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. See the city of Boston in a brand new light as we take you back to the time of John Hancock, Paul Revere, and Benjamin Franklin, all without having to fuss with a map! As you walk, audio stories will automatically pop up and start playing. It’s revolutionary history like you’ve never heard it before. Are you ready to turn your phone into a personal tour guide? • Beware of charges

I purchased the $9.99 package. I used it one day and enjoyed it. The second day when I opened it, it didn’t recognize that I had purchased it and wanted me to pay again.
  • Amazing option

I am super impressed with the app tour. It is well done and is really nice because I didn’t want to do everything so I was able to pick and choose.
  • Well worth the money

Excellent tour for the price. We really appreciated being able to go off the tour to eat and shop and pick up where we left off. One nice add might be to note where public restrooms are located, but otherwise fantastic.
  • Excellent

Totally worth it. You could just walk it yourself but you miss out on some great narration, and to do one of the organized tours you are spending 3x more easily. Highly recommend this for a nice diy walking tour at your own pace.
  • Poor design: don’t waste $

We were following the bricks from bunker hill, apparently app has a different path! It would skip out of an audio in the middle, making places like the cemeteries totally annoying.
  • Helpful but not worth the price

While it was nice to help us get around the Freedom Trail and learn the basics of each site, we really wished we had more in-depth information given. Most of the descriptions at the roughly 20 or so stops were only 1-2 minutes in length and we were usually left wanting more. I’d expect this from a free app but one that is $7 should have more IMO.
  • Benefits over tour group guides

First time in Boston. My wife and I split a pair of WIRELESS earbuds. I put in the left ear. She used the right ear. Geo triggers worked perfectly. You can repeat the audio if you miss something. What we liked over using the app more than a tour group type was that we could do our own pace. At one point we found ourselves next to the Sam Adams tasting room, so we had a beer and pretzel. Much later in little Italy we saw a charming bakery down a tight alley. We found a bench and had a coffee and pastry before returning to the Freedom Trail. We lingered for a long time in a cemetery moved by the names we recognized. You can even do half of it and come back another day to do the rest of it. This app is Freedom on the Freedom Trail.

  • Just what I needed!

I was coming up on the end of my trip to Boston and had booked so many group activities (whale watching, day trip to Martha’s Vineyard, etc - all highly recommended) and yet still felt I hadn’t soaked up enough history in Boston, itself. This app was recommended just as I was about to book a bus tour, which I was just feeling wouldn’t have been intimate/involved enough and it was just perfect! It was about a 2-3 mile narrated tour of the freedom trail plus some extra historic sites, I learned SO much, got some good exercise in, and got to see all the sites up close and personal for a fraction of what any other city tour would’ve cost! I would highly recommend this app. The one thing I will say, (which does not take away from my 5 star rating at all) is that the map isn’t as “smart” as your google maps app. I often used google maps as a supplement/ to navigate. Other than that, this was perfection!
