  • iPad route planner needs work, lots and lots of it

    By RaceTripper
I find the route planner very frustrating to use on an iPad with a Apple Pencil. It has a mind of it’s own creating silly detours from roads I want to be on, so I have to create points closer and closer to prevent it making wacky courses. It’s better to just go to my MacBook pro and use the web app on Safari. I can get a map done 10 times faster and it will be right. I give up using the iPad app. It’s pretty worthless.
  • I love this app

It just works. I use it all the time, every ride. Subscription is worth it too.
  • Will not work.

    By Jo445566
I cannot send a route to my phone 90% of the time. Either the notification screen doesn’t appear or the map doesn’t. Also, I’d like to delete routes. Can’t do that. In all, far too much work.
  • Excellent app, privacy options

Switched to this app after another popular one required an account and has a terrible privacy policy. Does everything I need, with third party sensors of all kinds. One issue crept in a couple of updates ago. On the top line of a ride detail page, a 21-minute ride shows as “0:21 mins” which looks like an error. Previously rides would show minutes and seconds. Now only minutes. My rides are always under 25 minutes and I need to see the seconds.
  • Cannot Read Street Labels

    By jrothim
RwGPS has a major flaw in that the route line obscures the map layer graphics, so you often cannot read the road or path names. This has been a longstanding problem. And also a safety issue when you have to take your eyes off the road for extended times to decipher a road or path name. In addition, when you have to manually route a segment, you lose all navigation cues and RwGPS is not smart enough to fill them in. Or allow you to manually add them. Appreciate these bugs getting fixed!

Great app. Really enjoy using preloaded routes when traveling in a different country. It takes much of the confusion and angst out so I can enjoy my ride.

With so many workout apps on the market (I currently regularly use 6 tracking apps for various sports!), for my endurance bike workouts, RWGPS has risen to the top of my choices. No app is perfect for all things, perhaps that’s why I use so many, but for pre-programmed routes on unknown roads this app is amazing. Also, for regular routes on familiar ground, the app does a great job with tracking. But the most important feature with this app is their EXCELLENT customer service. I recently had an issue and Dylan, a member of their tech support team, had a fix for me within hours. I really appreciate that and it helps build loyalty. I will likely upgrade to the premium subscription in the next couple of weeks.
