Entered Apple ID and password. Said they're not authorized. This and the fact that it barely works with Mojave, the last OS with 32-bit compatibility, well, 'bye-'bye.

Does not work on my MacBook Air. Wish it did, but alas, it does not.
  • Buggy, bad user experience, bad design

Just aweful. I would fire all their developers and start completely over from scratch. Poor design, poor coding, complete disregard for the Apple ecosystem.
  • no audio under El Capitan

I suppose the "new" app only works in High Sierra? No audio is available in El Capitan: articles appear to load in the audio window, the "play" button in the interface is greyed out. No options or preferences are available to the user. Waste of time and effort.

  • Useless on my Mac

My local public library offers free access to library members, but only while on the library premises. So I can use PressReader for free on my iPhone or iPad while at the library. The desktop application wouldn’t let me use my library credentials or even create a new account! BTW, although the developers say they’ve updated the application to work with High Sierra, upon launching the desktop application for the first time, a warning popped up notifying me that as a 32-bit application, this won’t work with future versions of the Mac operating system. Too bad — but I’ll give the iOS version a try.
