Just wanted to say thank you to the joist team for doing a great job on this useful app. Everything I need to write out my quotes is in this app. Options are great between client and contractor are great it really helps us keep up our standards and my clients also like it when they see updates within the invoices. I have a question for the joist team....when are you going to add an option to use chat gpt on your app for assistance??? That will be a great add on Other then that this app works for me and I highly recommend it to all in business.

Joist has continued to show they are a bad investment. They promised to stay free, then set a price scheme, but still a bit free though they took away most things, understand that, but now they have nothing free after getting us all locked in. The app isn’t that great to begin with, why would we want to deal with more, it’s just time to jump ship and go somewhere else, wave app seems to keep their word at this point so that’s an option.

This app is great and I would recommend it to anyone. I run my whole business on my iPhone with it. The customer service is excellent if you have a problem.
  • Reload Bug

Extreme user daily and pay for the highest tiered subscription. It’s been a year and the app still has to reload an estimate/invoice every single time you switch apps and it’s the most frustrating and time wasting experience. The fact that I pay so much and I have to use internal iOS gimmicks to workaround bugs in the Joist app (like holding multiple open without fulling switching to another app so it doesn’t force a reload from the top of the open invoice) is more than enough for me to justify knocking off three stars. Issues are consistent with iPhone and iPad - multiple updates, iOS updates, etc and as of today still a constant hinderance.

They had given a referral prgoram with $30 Giftcards and everything was fine until they DEACTIVATED ALREADY ISSUED CARDS & cancelled g . As a single mom I could’ve used my lil $60 that I already had in my possession . These people are untrustworthy and don’t do good business at all
  • Scammers.

After you made so many people pay for the subscription to get into the referral program, you cancelled everything after making people pay for the subscription and had the audacity to not even make an announcement on the reason why.

I usually don’t write reviews. I was one of the contractors that began using the app after the premium features were added. I saw many other reviews during that time that spoke about the company being greedy and complaining about taking away features that were once free. I didn’t see any problem with it at the time. They were letting you use the app but you have to pay for premium features. It was understandable to expect the company to make some money on a product that they are taking time and effort to build and support. We’re all businesspeople. We should understand. No one should be working for free. Fast forward to today and I have received an email stating that at the end of month nothing in the app will be free. Just to send 5 invoices a month you have to pay $8 per month. After using this app for almost two years and then to to have it changed up on me like that, I’m starting to see what the fuss was about in the first place. The company is taking a big risk in doing this. They have the freedom of choice to take that risk. They have the freedom to charge whatever they want. I’m a small contractor that only does side work every so often so I can’t justify paying a fee every month for basic features that I can use from another free app. I think including advertisements in the free version would have been more beneficial for them but whatever. It’s their company. I thought Joist catered more to small contractors but seems like they are scaling it to meet the needs of bigger companies. If they add dispatching, price book, etc they will be there with the likes of ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro etc. I never thought that was their intended audience but ok. I’m moving on though and many others probably will also.

After years of using this app I’m now having to convert all invoices and estimates to another platform. I don’t need any thrills and frills just a plain invoice and estimate maker and that’s what this app was now they want to charge for that. I don’t mind paying for stuff that’s gonna make me money but if I’ve made money using the free version why would I decide to pay now. You have a paid version so update that with fancy stuff and leave the free version as is. On top of being told the free version is ending I’m told that my current invoices and estimates that are currently with clients will not be accessible by me or the client. If you want to run businesses off go ahead but give us the courtesy to access what we have worked for, I’m going to lose money because of your bad business practice if I can’t get everything transferred and new invoices and estimates are sent out before the 31st. Having to transfer all the data I have on the app to something temporarily until I find another platform that is suitable. This app was never perfect for my business but I made do with what it provided because it was free, now that’s over. Will not recommend this to anyone. I read one response say they only meant for it to be free for a short while. 5+ years isn’t a short while. Update: After developer response I standby my statement. I will not be staying with this app. After researching there are a lot of others that offer more that are free. Just because you are failing as a business doesn’t mean the customer has to take on your burden. If you want to charge for a minimum service then go ahead but locking your customers who have used your platform for years out of their invoices to never be able to retrieve them is absolutely ridiculous. This is what’s childish and shows how much you appreciate the customers who have used this app since it’s beginnings. If out of all the years you’ve been in business if what’s causing your business to fail is a free version then you were failed from the start.

When I first started with Joist in 2019 everything was 100% free. Every year they took more and more away. Now 5 years later it is 100% paid. Unfortunately, with that this is where it ends for both of us. There are other options that offer everything for free such as Yardbook and Zoho. I wish Joist the best of luck but in todays economy it’s just not worth paying $8 a month just to send out invoices. I’m upset that you pulled this in the middle of a year instead of waiting until a new calendar year.
