I got this app the have a simple shared todo list with her. The project sharing functionality is broken: she was unable to join my shared project.

I’ve had an on and off relationship with ToDoist. I think it was more me that ToDoist, though. I have used Things3 for many years. I’m also a productivity junky like many others who read task manager app reviews. I just about used them all!! I work in the MSP space. We use a PSA to keep track of things like clients, service tickets, sales orders, etc. It’s never really met my needs as far as the small things, though - “follow up with client X about Y on Z date”. It’ll do all that but there is so much resistance, I usually defaulted to my task app. What’s worse, I found I was double entering information into my task management app as well as my work software. This isn’t good. I decided to completley stop putting work related tasks into my task manager, and I also watched several of Carl Pullein’s videos on ToDoist and he convinced me to stop putting project material into my task manager. Let the task manager be just that and nothing else! These two decisions have made a big difference in my comfort level with using ToDoist. I feel I was putting to much in the program and getting overwhelmed by the noise. For now I’m using my own variation of Carl’s Time Sector System. Personal productivity is so much more than the app you’re using. It’s the system that works (or doesn’t) for you! There is countless material on the specifics of ToDoist. You can find that information through a Google search so I won’t go in depth here on that. A few of the specific features I like: 1) natural language input, 2) location based reminders, 3) repeat upon completion (and all the other recurring options), 4) the mobile app has gotten loads better since using it last, 5) cross platform support, 6) Apple Watch App is top notch. I know this review was more about my own journey and less about ToDoist but I hope it helps someone nonetheless.
  • No Reminders on Free Version

This review is for the free version Overall the app has a great layout and user interface. Great for organizing tasks lists and coordinating between people. The free version limits the number of projects/ lists you can have to 5, which is fair. But you can only get reminders of due dates and upcoming tasks with the paid version. I didn’t realize until this initially so I would completely forget to do certain task. I took off two stars for this reason.

Simple, easy to use, in-app purchase options are not obnoxious or overwhelming. Just clean and streamlined. The best organizational app!

Using the premium version in combination with the GTD method has improved my productivity ten fold while making time management easier. Well worth the investment.
