While quite powerful, it has not yet been completely migrated to Apple Silicon.

This app is extremely unreliable for me. It started working after several force quits, and I was able to create a custom setting to use when exporting from Final Cut, which worked fine. However, when attempting to use a droplet I created, as well as dropping the video file directly in compressor, it became unresponsive yet again. Compressor was working until it said 'unable to submit to queue' Apparently, a lot of other people have had similar issues going back several years and through many versions of this software. There are forums that recommend a plethora of solutions, like changing permissions of the Applications Support folder in Shared or giving the app Full Disk Access. Even if those solutions worked, it doesn't make up for the fact that they shouldn't be necessary in the first place. The app should just work. Sure make your presets and set up your workflow, but then it should just work, no muss no fuss. It is surprising to me that Apple has not fixed these critical issues and also charges $50 for a piece of unusable software that at the least should be included for free with the purchase of Final Cut for $300. And if the current issue at hand is compatibility with M1 Macs (Apple Silicon), it should've been updated on day 1 to be fully compatible. If Apple were to make this right; fix these issues and bundle the app for free with Final Cut, subsequently refunding the $50 to those who have purchased both apps, I would give 5 stars.

New install on M1 Max Mac Studio runing OS12.4 w 64 GB RAM. Permission error 13 comes up at launch. Apple knowledge base suggestions do not fix. Tried them all. Also can't send jobs to queue. Ever. A total dud. Loved this app years ago when it used to work......

I don't know what the problem is. It happens intermittently on two Macs, on Monterey, on Big Sur, on Catalina. But it hangs at zero percent processing about 75 percent of the time I try to use it, then fails with an uninformative error. I've tried everything the fan-boys in the support forum suggest, but rebooting after every edit and before ever share, and deleting preferences and re-setting my layout continuously is just not an optimal workflow. I give up.

This app should be fixed or discontinued. I've used it for years and now it just takes up space and wastes my time. Won't complete any exports whatsoever. Even after a full delete and reinstall of the app. This app does not work.

If you have the M1 and are getting the "unable to sumit to queue" error, your problem may be resolved by doing the following according to Apple App Pro Tech help: "If necessary, quit Compressor. Set the permissions of both of these folders to Read & Write so that they both say “You can read and write”: /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/ /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Compressor Trash the corrupted CompressorConfigV2.plist before relaunching Compressor." Once I followed Apple's fix, Compressor worked excellent on the M1. Great app! Apple customer service was able to get in touch with me to fix this error and now everything runs smooth. Thank goodness!

Thank you to 921 Music. After following a dozen other sugestions this guy nailed it. Come on Apple, what the heck is going on. Users shouldn't have to fix your mistakes. At least acknolege there was a problem. My Compressor has been down since my last OS update. Thanks again 921 Music.
