  • If what you really crave is to reboot and trash preferences often...

I don't know what the problem is. It happens intermittently on two Macs, on Monterey, on Big Sur, on Catalina. But it hangs at zero percent processing about 75 percent of the time I try to use it, then fails with an uninformative error. I've tried everything the fan-boys in the support forum suggest, but rebooting after every edit and before ever share, and deleting preferences and re-setting my layout continuously is just not an optimal workflow. I give up.

  • Useless after Monterey Install

    By Fairfax14
This app should be fixed or discontinued. I've used it for years and now it just takes up space and wastes my time. Won't complete any exports whatsoever. Even after a full delete and reinstall of the app. This app does not work.
  • Does What it Needs to Fast

Compressor is great for my line of work where I have a bulk amount of files that need to be transcoded to some very specific file formats, and I frequently need to process a large amount of FCPX projects as well. Compressor does exactly that, it is fast and easy to configure, never crashes, and makes my life quite a bit easier.
  • Works Excellent!

If you have the M1 and are getting the "unable to sumit to queue" error, your problem may be resolved by doing the following according to Apple App Pro Tech help: "If necessary, quit Compressor. Set the permissions of both of these folders to Read & Write so that they both say “You can read and write”: /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/ /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Compressor Trash the corrupted CompressorConfigV2.plist before relaunching Compressor." Once I followed Apple's fix, Compressor worked excellent on the M1. Great app! Apple customer service was able to get in touch with me to fix this error and now everything runs smooth. Thank goodness!

Thank you to 921 Music. After following a dozen other sugestions this guy nailed it. Come on Apple, what the heck is going on. Users shouldn't have to fix your mistakes. At least acknolege there was a problem. My Compressor has been down since my last OS update. Thanks again 921 Music.
  • A previously great app fails to work with Monterey

    By DoBetter
Compressor consistently fails after the 2 minute mark with the Monterey OS. This has been a known problem since Monterey came out last year. Somehow, this has not been addressed through any updates. And now it is not possible to go back to Big Sur, where Compressor worked just fine.
  • Adequate but...

I'm sure this will be a good addition to me owning FCP. I look forward to having several compression options for my videos. I bought it today in hopes of isolating audio from a video and encoding it as an mp3. It gives me far too few options to encode mp3s. They should be completely customizable. While I throw out this criticism, I'll also say how totally disappointed I was when iTunes got rid of mp3 encoding. TOTALLY a downgrade with that program.
  • Crashes and gives error 9074

    By Msmurley
I edit seminars regularly and batch process several videos at a time. Since updating to Monterey, I am unable to send videos from FCP to Compressor and process them. Either Compressor will crash before I start the batch, or it will give an error and fail to process. I'm running a speced out 2019 iMac, but also have a M1 iMac that is not having this issue. It seems to be effecting intel macs from what I'm seeing online.
  • Works poorly on an M1 in Monterey

Version 4.6 Unable to export batchs due to a Queue error. Seems like quite a few on the Apple forum are experincing the same thing. About the only positive is that you can add its presets to Final Cut and do the exporting from there. Very disappointed.
