    I understand the app is free but the problems I see would still occur in the premium version. I still use it and wonder if the premium version is worth it. It’s not simple to get clear accurate data. Item 1: macros with dodgy food data is rampant. Foods calorie , fat, carb breakdowns are crowd sourced and there are many duplicate inaccurate entries. Trying to compare the entries in the MFP database to actual food labels to find the correct one is time consuming and not always possible. Even verified entries are incorrect if the food label is the golden source. Item 2: the algorithms used for weight loss ( at least on the free version - no idea if premium is different) are way off. The “if every day was like this you’d be blah in 5 weeks” is wrong 100% of the time for me. On the plus side... the app does really help with control, awareness, and keeping focused on long term goals. I’ll still use it despite its functional/data flaws.

    I am using the free app and it is all I need as of now. It lets you know when you are close to target amt. of any nutrients for the day. I am really watching my sodium intake. When logging it seems to make me take real notice of what to eat. I have placed myself on 1200 calories. It is HARD….thinks to this app it’s a LITTLE easier. If you need something to help reach goal try this app.
  • Extreme caloric intake recommendation

    Based on my height 5’4” and weight 165. The daily recommended caloric intake was 1,270 calories. This in my opinion is dangerous if someone strictly goes by this. Your metabolism and hormones can go haywire if you don’t eat the proper amount of daily calories and I also suspect that it can foster an eating disorder. I would highly recommend that the calorie intake have the ability to be manually adjusted. This app and others like it.

    ADDITION: 2021 I have been using this app on and off for a few years, once I became serious about counting calories this app kept me accountable and I have lost 40 lbs. of course I changed my diet and added exercise but my main issue w weight loss was I had no idea how many calories I was consuming and What a correct portion size was. This app won’t loose the weight for you but it will put you in a mindset to read what you consume prior to consumption. I think of calories now same as spending money. I’ve come to the point where I can control and be mindful on my own wo the app. I have maintained my weight loss for a 1.5 years now and I’m keeping this app just in case. This app really helped me in my weight loss goal. The free version is great, I never upgraded. The FREE version provides: Logs/tracking: food/calories, water, exercise, weight. Provides: recipes, challenges, social options, macros, goal tracking, workout routines, positive reinforcement, and warnings when you are near your net limit for...sugar, sodium, fat etc. Sends notifications reminders (if enabled) keeping you accountable. It is a great little app, the internal nutrition information is incorrect sometimes so check the labels of your food items against what the app has recorded. I’ve had to correct nutrition information quite a few times but it isn’t a big deal.

    Update: after deleting the app and it’s data, then restarting the iPhone, then re-installing the app it has started working without freezing. Their support helped and were responsive. Original review: Freezes up on every other food log entry. I have to then close and reopen the app. Food logs are annoying and slow enough as they are without this further complication.

    I’m an armature weight lifter and I think this app is great. Only recently started at a real gym and it’s good for helping me keep track of my sets/reps. The majority of issues people have with this app are user error.
