  • Close but no cigar

I’ll start off by saying I like the GOHUNT insider, I find it to be useful. I’ve also seen other people say the desktop version is better which I can’t verify so do your own due diligence. Map details at least seem to be sharper in image quality I think. I do also like some of the features (when they work) I think In a few years this will be a decent product but as of now…it’s useless. I was in the backcountry of CO and WY recently for shed season opener. When using the “tracking” feature my screen would turn blue and apparently keep track I just couldn’t use or see any other feature on the app while it was “tracking”. This is a small bug compared to the much larger problem I encountered while MILES away from camp which is itself miles away from a road. Every time my phone would lose service or have no bars. The app would force close, delete everything I was “tracking” and once it deleted my way points. Furthermore, at times it would completely log me out and without at least one bar logging in for “offline” maps (which served zero purpose) or just seeing the terrain at all was an impossibility. Had I not known at least a direction to an unimproved road It could’ve easily been a terrible situation gone worse. ONX HAS NEVER CRASHED ON ME, LOGGED ME OUT WHILE I WAS USING IT OR DELETED ANY OF MY SAVED DATA! NEVER TRUST THIS APP AS YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF DIRECTION. IT FAILED SEVERAL TIMES ON ME IN A STUNNING SHOW OF PISS POOR QUALITY.
  • Awesome features, performance slightly lacking during research binges

    By Prodigy1014
I like the platform, the desktop is clearly the better performer and I love how all the filters are available. On the mobile app it was expected to be less efficient but when I’m in the field I have to be very wary not to go into a full research binge. I have a new phone so I wouldn’t think the app would be so demanding on processing power but I’m limited by overheating, battery drain, and the odd crash or 2 within minutes of e-scouting. I’ll reduce the noise with disabling some filters but I’m on a time limit as soon as I start really digging in mostly from phone temperatures, especially in 3D mode. As I said, it’s a fantastic platform tool and I should be more diligent doing the bulk of my E-scouting on a computer and using the mobile app to verify my funny theories in the field. I still don’t use GoHunt Maps for tracking for the sole reason that it is prone to crashes and killing my battery even when using offline mode, if there was an option for a ‘low demand’ mode I would absolutely utilize the app more

I have used a few others but the interface and feature of GOHUNT’s map app is much better than the rest IMO. Terrain analysis feature is key is e-scouting. I am spend much less time looking for sign.
  • Great! But missing a key feature.

You guys do awesome work! Thank you so much for all the research and thought that goes into your content across all platforms. I would love to see your terrain analysis tool worked into the app as well as the color legend for the different types of filters and layers. Thanks again! Love it!
  • Has failed every time

Track does not work. Tracks for roughly 2 hours then screen freezes. Have to close app and reopen to get it to unfreeze, but track has been lost. I like the desktop maps, but mobile app maps are unreliable.
  • Great for any outdoorsman

The 3D map and community features on this map are great. Now, instead of word of mouth or my crudely drawn maps of paths I’ve hiked, I can just set way points and screen shot areas to my friends.
  • Needs improvement

    By nrgaddict
This app is phenomenal as far as land graphics and such. It covers a ton of information required to literally go hunt. That being said it needs improvements. Such as state land updates that are turned into county lands. The hunt areas need to be CLEARLY MARKED. Here in North Eastern Wyoming for example. Many state land areas are not allowing hunters due to coal mining. Some state lands are cut in half. You can hunt half, some or none of that section. This app is very good but state lands open/closed is a huge miss by this app.
  • Needs a different pricing model

Bummer that there is not an option for non-insiders…
  • Just crashes

    By lewis816
This app crashes and takes your track with it. Nothing like putting in a long track hunting to use the next day only to have the app crash and delete it all. Going back to OnX.
  • Great app but a few bugs

    By mattredford
I love the maps app and the cross platform integration. I just wanted to let you guys know the 3D portion had been crashing the app every time I’ve been using it. I’m sure it’ll get resolved.
