I really do like the apps screen time blocking and the focus sessions, but the score thing is kind of ridiculous and needs a rework. I really got the app to limit my screen time, not get rid of it completely, but your score goes down a whole point if you go on instagram for 5 min. I like the app but I really think that needs to change.

I’ve only been using for a week and have seen significant improvement.
  • Could be great, but bugs and scammy practice ruin it.

I paid for a year. Tried it, hated the VPN functionality because it would conflict with other VPNs and was hard to manage. Turned off and didn’t use it for a while. Then got an update that my renewal was coming up. Turned off the renewal, but figured I try the app again now that it is linked with Screen Time. Looked promising, but because its still limited to 49 items, it can’t easily block out stuff. Does anyone seriously have less than 49 apps or websites they visit? I wanted to block everything including Safari but allow some apps/sites, so I tried to set up a whitelist, but what it does then is make the whitelist active just for the scheduled period and block everything else. So I deleted the schedule, but after I did so, it still had all those apps blocked - so I had to delete the app and restart my phone to use them. And then I reloaded the app to try again, but it wanted to charge me $99.99 to use it even though I still have time left (like 10 days) before my subscription expires. No way to get around paying or sign back in. Uh, that’s a no from me dawg. Borderline fraud. Oh, and the app categories only show one app when you hit the reveal arrow; you have to go back and close the current category before you can open the next one. Basic UI errors like that are indicative of a crappy app. Sad. The app really could be useful, but until they make it functional, it’s better to just use Screen Time itself. // Note that dev now asserts that you can restore your purchase from the paywall, if that was an option it was not there for me. Everything required picking a payment option, there was no other button or menu to restore at the paywall. It seems revealing that their response is non-specific on how to do it - or what to do if it isn’t there. Anyway, I’ve moved on. Caveat emptor.

This app does exactly what it states - limits your screen time. Just take some time to set up a schedule for yourself and then the app becomes set it and forget it. My social media and shopping app usage has gone down to almost zero during work hours and throughout the week. I had tried other things like apple’s app time limits, turning my phone to grey, nothing really stuck or worked. Opal worked immediately. I love it. Worth every penny.

You would think an app that locks you out of problematic apps for a certain time would be simple and common but for some reason this is quite literally the only one that does this AND doesn’t cost a bunch of money per year, the best features are optional through payment but the meat and potatoes are free and to be honest that makes me actually want to pay on occasion just to support them for not being so greedy over such a simple concept. If you have problems doomscrolling or losing track of time and sitting on the can for 30 minutes playing mundane puzzle games like me, GET THIS, you wont regret it!
  • Worth the $$$

Love it, thank you. I can’t just easily override it, which makes me actually stop scrolling. And I love the 5 second wait before I take a break to allow myself to rethink. Would love to see a feature where I can lift restrictions based on location I set (to allow myself to, say, watch unlimited Netflix while I’m at the gym, or airport, etc.).
  • Needs more work

Needs more work. Sometimes it keeps all my apps locked even after the end of the day. I have uninstall then reinstall which is such a hassle
  • This app screwed up my phone and now websites are blocked 24/7

I’m disappointed in this app. The app-blocking worked fine, but the website blocking persisted even outside of the blocking hours. I deleted the app and turned off screen time and some apps are still permanently blocked on my phone. Apple Support was unable to help. Do not use this app, it’s not worth the risk.
  • It's not blocking and price has increased a lot

I'm writing this as I can see any of the blocked apps, the yearly price is directly a luxury item for something that work so randomly
