  • Stale UI, Rivian?

ABRP has always had an odd UX that is not very intuitive. I figured by now there would be some improvement but no. Still feels like a web app running in a container. Confusing how vehicle settings have impact on trip planned. I drive a Rivian and find it extremely confusing how this app is owned by Rivian yet there is no live data recording… WTH?
  • Just Doesn’t Work Anymore

I recall using this app a while ago for a few roadtrips and it worked alright. I’ve tried this app a few times on a recent roadtrip in our 4th Tesla that we just bought - I can’t get the API to stay connected in my app so my SOC is constantly wrong. Removing the car and re-adding it works until the next stop, then I have to repeat the process. It also took a few tries to get the app to recognize my actual location using the “my position” option for route planning. I’ll continue to follow the app’s development process and hope that these kinks are worked out. However, with how long this app has been around and how popular it is, it’s quite surprising this hasn’t been polished yet.
  • I really want to like this app

There’s a lot going on behind the scenes that could make this app phenomenal. Its calculations for range, its ability to take in live data, it has the potential to be one of the best EV apps on the market. But the UI/UX is just bad. And there’s no way to sugarcoat that. Recently, I tried setting destinations from my current location and every. single. time. it kept overriding the “Use current location” and instead generated a path from our house. I *want* to pay to use this app but until the experience is better, I’ll deal with other apps that are of less quality on the backend.
  • Much improved!

I’ve been using this app every since I heard about it. At first, it was alright. Some things didn’t work, soc guesses were always way off even on short trips. Weather and traffic were sporadic. But recently, all of that has been fixed. Traffic works, it adjusts based on weather, soc guesses are spot on even on longer trips. This app is indeed useful! While I don’t use it every day, it comes in useful for piece of mind on those days I have a lot of running around to do. I pop in all the places I need to go, and it gives me the estimate! I will say, it’s a bit heavy with the estimated energy use still, even after 200+ miles, it may think I’ll have 2% less battery than I do. That may just be the devs making sure users can make it. But I do get pretty good mi/kw. So, I’m okay with that. I also wish the station info worked better. I’d say at best, 10% of stations I come across have live data. This is a paid feature, so I wish it worked better than it does. Over all, it’s super useful for those of us who in car nav isn’t that great. Which, let’s be honest, is most brands.
  • Works, but a pain.

The UI is just a pain. You have to click in just the right spot, and it’s just not intuitive to use. It works, but is it worth it? Yes, I think so. You can use the app for route planning. You can answer questions like knowing how much to charge to be able to make that trip.
  • Awesome App for Planning a Road Trip

This app is amazing for planning my charging on road trips. It’s totally worth paying $5 for the month of my trip. After that, you can just cancel. Think it of as the cheapest trip expense you’ll have that helps make it as good as it can be! Like all apps, it’s not perfect. However, it’s still the best for route planning a route trip by far. This applies even to the free version. Also, the app gets regular updates, so it continues improve over time too. Side note, I drive a Tesla. This app allows me to plan my trip even better than Tesla’s already good in car route planner. For example, I want to keep my state of charge between 30% and 70% and end my trip at 50% to maximize the lifespan and long term capacity of my battery. ABRP enables me to do that. It’s a great compliment to the Tesla route planner. When driving across a long desert stretch, for example, it’s a good idea to use the worst case arrival state of charge between the two to be on the safe side.
  • Great App!

I have used ABRP on a handful of 15+ hour drives with 5-6 charging stops, and the app has been pretty solid. I have a OBD-II dongle that I use for realtime data from the car and it does well once it sees the dongle. Most of the time, I have to remove the setting for the dongle and then have the app reconfigure it as it loses itself and doesn’t connect. In fact, the dongle sometimes disappears from the list of available Bluetooth devices. Hopefully that can be looked at in a future update. Secondly, I wish it would interface better with the relevant charging stations in the trip to provide realtime station usage and potential downtime of chargers. I think I saw it show an EvGO status once, and since then not so much. Also, would love to see support for 24-hour clocks. I definitely have recommended this app to several EVers alike, and they seem to like it as well.
  • Not worth my time

This app is basically useless unless you pay for premium subscription. Even then the Chevy app works better which is not a high bar. Don’t waste your time and money.
  • ABRP has come a long way

If you haven’t used ABRP for a while, give it another try. It’s by far the best non-Tesla route planner out there and it’s getting pretty close to the same functionality. Now, we just need deeper integration to allow for pre-conditioning and access to dashboard screens.
  • Unparalleled functionality, UI is a hot mess

Functionality and what the app is actually capable of doing is simply unparalleled. No other app that is not integrated with the vehicle à la Tesla, even comes close. Even Tesla app and built-in navigation lacks a lot of the features this app has. The UI on the other hand is about as unintuitive and user-hostile as it gets. You need to study the app for weeks to figure out all the glitches and workarounds to be able to tap into the amazing functionality under the hood. To sum it up, this is the only app I have found it truly serves my needs. I found it well worth the months of learning for what it gains me when planning a trip
