Alive is the true definition of having an app that does it all. I love the selection of workouts and how each workout is easily comprehensible while also physically challenging.

I would love the option to write notes in each workout. Like a button to take extra notes like which gym I went to that day or which specific barbell I used. Or how the specific workout felt.

I love showing up to the gym with no plan - and killing a workout with the alive app! I feel confident knowing what my next step is without the extra brain effort of deciding what to do! And boy of boy I’ve gotten some great muscle tone since I’ve first started my journey 💪🏼 I love this app and really love how Whitney and her team are always listening to what the users want!

I got this app during the lockdiwn and never wenr back to the gym. You can use this app at the gym - so many in gym workouts. But the ones specifically designed for home workouts are challenging (expert level), or if you're a beginner theres a level for you too. I do it at home and when i travel.

Looking at how much time it’ll take to complete a workout discourages me from starting it.
  • Great app! But there are usability issues!

UX Designer here! :) Been following Whitney since she was on YouTube and I can thank her for helping me get acquainted and comfortable in the gym and be the fittest I've ever been. The app has great work outs and it's like the accountability buddy I need to get me in the gym and really helps me not to have to think about what I need to do in the gym. For the Alive app team, my main feedback is to do please do some usability testing!! (Or hire me! ) think there are some small ways that you can really make the app fit the gym experience even more. I've found little things like not being able to see the full title of the name of the exercise on my apple watch which tripped me up today. Also the order of the exercises are too rigid. Eg today I did some out of order bc one machine was busy. Also I don't know if it's necessary to have to tap "next" after each movement... I'd rather just know what exercise I'm doing, have a demonstration, and then get to work and forget about my phone. Anyway.. That's just my experience but I do recommend usability testing to see if that stands true for others. Overall, great app. It's helping me get in the gym more. I look forward to the improvements and updates!!

As someone who doesn’t know what I’m doh g in the gym, I love the programs. The are easy to follow and don’t require me to create a plan for my workouts. It offers alternatives movements I can’t do yet, or if I don’t have the equipment at home, and she doesn’t talk during the workout, which is my favorite part!

My entire life I’ve struggled with my relationship with food, working out & keeping a positive mindset. This app has changed the game for me, the programs keep me on a good schedule, the workouts are beyond easy to follow & I don’t have to stress about which workouts to do or how to do them. On top of that, the journaling has been great! Really allows me to track how I’m feeling & analyze my emotions. 10/10 highly recommend

I’ve tried several workout apps and Whitney’s is by far the best. You can tell she really thought of every detail for functionality. I love the dynamic warm ups and short cool downs. The exercises are challenging but in a good way. Love that there is a lot of glute focus in the leg days. All around a great app. Keep up the great work!!

EDIT 2022: Finally!!! The Apple Watch compatibility is here, but it seems like it’s not working properly. It’s not logging all of the “minutes” for each workout. I did a leg day for 38 minutes. It only added 18 minutes to my exercise ring for the day, when if I just started the “traditional weight lifting” workout on my watch it would have been the full 38 minutes. Also; I have to end the workout on my watch NOT my phone. If I accidentally do it on my phone first, it runs until I remember to check. Then, you can’t “complete” the workout, you have to “quit” it, not logging the time at all. Yes, I still did the workout, but the numbers bother me if they’re not right! I LOVE this app and will use it forever. Just love the bugs to be fixed :) This app is amazing. I’ve tried so many other programs and apps and this is the only one that keeps me motivated AND PROGRESSING! I’ve found with other apps that you can just get stuck. Not with Alive!! I absolutely love it. Small suggestions because this team is amazing and always listens to feedback! (I.e being able to move days around in the programs, not only adding warm ups and cool downs to the app, but being able to toggle them on and off WITHIN an actual workout) - I would love a list of the exercises, and to be able to see my progression of weights and reps without being in an actual workout. Sometimes I plan ahead, and other times I just want to see how far I’ve come! -I know y’all are working on modifications for moves, but I think it would be great to have mods for the gym programs to sub gym equipment with dumbbells, etc. to make gym programs suitable for home too.
