  • Hiding the downgrade button and feeling forced to pay

    2
    By CalyanJaele
The update is nice but I’d paid for Goodnotes 5 and when 6 came out, I thought I had to pay to keep using the app. I chose the option to make my account with google and did the one time payment option but later learned that I’d miss out on extra features from future updates since I chose the one time payment option. I requested a refund from apple after realizing that I could have downgraded but that option felt hidden, and that despite paying one time for 6, that I wasn’t guaranteed continued updates because I did not indefinitely subscribe. I asked for the refund months ago and it was denied, so I will continue to use the app, but I feel tricked. I don’t have much confidence that my one time payment will give me access to updates.
  • RAM usage and managment

Your app is wayyy too memory hungry and doesn't work with Mac's memory management. This is a well known issue, why no effort to fix it?
  • GREAT (w/ few complaints)

This app is great! I've been using it to take take some of my notes, recently. However, there are some issues that I face while using the app. —{𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥}— One big issue involves the 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀. When using the 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘰 tool, there’s a tendancy that, when selecting (𝗍𝖺𝗉𝗉𝗂𝗇𝗀) a text or converted text (𝗂𝗇 𝗆𝗒 𝖼𝖺𝗌𝖾), I'm automatically set to text/ text editing mode despite the lasso tool still selected. In order to solve the issue, I have to select another tool, then re-select the tool I was originally using; 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗅𝖺𝗌𝗌𝗈 𝗍𝗈𝗈𝗅 𝗂𝗇 𝗍𝗁𝗂𝗌 𝖼𝖺𝗌𝖾. This case tends to occur with other tools as well. The issue discussed above leads to a major issue I have; 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 / 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀 (𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝗇𝗈𝗍 𝗂𝗇𝖼𝗅𝗎𝖽𝖾𝖽). Using the lasso tool and selecting text has proven to be complicated in numerous occurrences. The programming of the Apple Pencil’s input, I believe, is one of the main factors for this cause. Simply selecting the text can result in editing the text. This occurs when the pencil draws shortly between any part of the text, initiating 𝗍𝖾𝗑𝗍-𝖾𝖽𝗂𝗍 mode, and no matter where outside the text box you tap, you’ll remain in 𝖾𝖽𝗂𝗍 mode, each tap or drag of the pencil (𝗍𝗈 𝖽𝖾𝗌𝖾𝗅𝖾𝖼𝗍 / 𝖾𝗑𝗂𝗍 𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘵 𝗆𝗈𝖽𝖾) being recognized by the programming system as write-to-text. In order to fix this, I either have to do the process mention previously (𝘳𝘦-𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨), or I have to use my finger to tap outside the text box— let alone, to pull up the keyboard and undo/backspace the unwanted text; this method more often being case. This issue also applies to when moving the text—𝗲𝘀𝗽 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗽 (‘𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁’) 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁. To move it, you have to actually lasso the text and grab the object from within the dashed border, as per usual when using the lasso tool. [𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗨𝗘] If you tap the text, you will not be able to move it from any spot. Having tapped the text, you enter text-edit mode; trying to grab and move the text, you’re contact and movements of the pencil will register into write-to-text. You’re only able to move it when you grab the white ovular bar—four blue vertical lines inside—along the top line of the selection box. Although that’s not necessarily an issue, personally, it’s proven to be an inconvenience at times; that which I can’t just grab the text/text box and move it. Another issue I’ve had occurs when I use 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. I have sticky note elements which I’ll use to paste on the side for visible and direct notes/comments (rather than side comments of a specific element or object). However, when I try to adjust and/or edit text placed in front of an element, the element itself becomes selecting and is previewed upfront, covering the text and objects that were in front from view. 𝐒𝐨, 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐝... • A “𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩/𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣” tool for individual and direct selection of the text and/or an object, would be confident and less complicated——alongside an option or button that allows you to select 𝙢𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙚 objects. This would improve the issues discussed. • Like converted text, being able to 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 would be great, and useful for math notes when coordinating what part of an equation/formula represents what, for example. In place of this, I’ve just been highlighting the different text and parts, which looks messy and unirganized. • 𝖠 𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙡 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹, and additional 𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀/𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲𝘀; e.g., 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩/𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩 for calligraphy writing when getting creative w/ note titles and captions. ⤷ 𝖤𝗂𝗍𝗁𝖾𝗋 𝖺𝗇 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝙨𝙞𝙯𝙚 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲, 𝖿𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝗌𝗂𝗓𝖾 𝗌𝗉𝖺𝖼𝖾-𝗌𝖾𝗅𝖾𝖼𝗍𝗂𝗈𝗇𝗌 𝗋𝖺𝗍𝗁𝖾𝗋 𝗍𝗁𝖺𝗇 𝟥, 𝗢𝗥 a 𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙥-𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣 size scale with the program that allows one to 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬/𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 several (𝟯<) brush sizes. • 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄. You’re able to arrange items, as to whether to send them to the front or back. Being able to view a drop-down or tab of the layers would be nice. ⤷ 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴. Being able to group elements, shapes, text, and writing. I like to aesthetically layout my notes,

I was looking for a digital planner type app and this isn’t it. I’m unable to delete pages, unable to find an appropriate planner. Also cannot find a contact us function. I’m deleting it.

I love this app but I keep having problems with my stickers appearing then disappearing and then reappearing again. It’s frustrating when I need to use one of the ones that just disappear . Also the text box doesn’t always do a good job of capturing my writing.
