Carbon Diet App is a fantastic user friendly diet app that I highly recommend.
  • The BEST diet app out there.

I’ve used quite a few diet apps in the past. Carbon is the most stream lined and effective version of a diet app/food tracker I have ever experience. It takes the guess work out of calories and macros and adjusts to how your body responds to dieting. But the real question is: does it work? I’m down 85 pounds having used Carbon. Trusting the app through my diet journey has been a great decision. And I know when my weight loss journey is complete, Carbon won’t fail me in helping me to maintain my weight. Do yourself a favor: GET THIS APP.
  • Save yourself a few bucks. I’ve never reviewed an app in my life…

But I need to leave one here to save people some money. This app is incredibly overpriced for the service it provides. I paid for six months, just so it could tell me to eat a ridiculous amount of protein each day (177 g is insane unless your are a professional athlete or a rich d***head). My diet is fine, and I’m well within the calorie limits, but the average person can not be expected to eat the amount of protein this app says you require. The algorithm is not especially innovative either - it doesn’t adjust for me from week to week (which I kind of expected it to??), and you can achieve the same results with a free calorie counter and a thoughtful google search.

Not worth paying for. The ‘coach’ IA didn’t offer anything more than my own logic can do. Going back to a free app.

The only reason it is not five stars is because the “brand” database needs work. In comparison to its competition MyFitnessPal it’s easier to find the right brand. Love how this app taylors to you!
  • I like the idea of this app

I really love the idea of this. Simple, user friendly ai that takes the leg work out of analyzing nutrition data and making adjustments (like you have to do in my fitness pal), but something is lacking. It seems that carbon doesn’t not utilize user data at all if the user was ‘not compliant.’ Carbon has me eating at around 1032 calories per day currently, & I strongly suspect that I need to be eating more than that. For the past 2 weeks, I’ve been eating around 1300 rather than 1032. When, check in rolled around, I marked ‘non compliant’ because thats close to 300 calories over the daily goal that carbon set for me. I've also logged my weight daily, and I’ve averaged -1lb per week in weight loss (when my goal is -.5) This is the disappointing part, after consistently logging calories, macros, weight, loosing more weight than intended, and completing the check ins, carbon doesn’t utilize the data (calories consumed if ‘non compliant’ and logged weight) to make adjustments if you select ‘non compliant’. Or maybe they do, but the “looks like things didn’t go as planned, let’s try again next time” (or something along those lines) doesn’t elude to the fact that they do. I don’t know if this is a development constraint or what, but I think if all of the data was utilized it would make this app so so much better.
  • Your average macro track

Honestly I heard so many good thing about the app and give it a shoot to tried it. You can not see what you are buying bc there is not free trial .... since as I said I heard good things I went for it... and this is just the same as other apps that you can use for free ... nothing different. So for me was a waste.. sorry.
  • Am I Missing Something?

I was excited to use this app based on a couple of reviews and an endorsement by John Delony. Unfortunately this app has been disappointing. I do enjoy the ability to log food and keep tabs on my macros, but honestly one can find free apps to utilize for the same purpose. I wasn’t sure where my subscription was going, and what features I was getting beyond something free that tracks food and macros. I had a very hard time trying to navigate making my macros work, and that was where some coaching or guidance would have been appreciated. I found myself in the same spot of successfully eating healthy, but that was really due to having awareness of what I was putting in my body and tracking it. When I couldn’t hit my macros because I didn’t know what foods or what sort of meals I could be eating that would help me meet my macros, I got very discouraged, because I found myself eating far fewer calories and being hungry at the end of the day. I found this to be true when I did carb cycling and I only spent $20 for the book that outlines all of the details around carb cycling, including meal suggestions and foods a use. I was hoping that this app with coaching would provide a little bit more insight, unfortunately each weeks Check In was more of a, “sorry to see that you didn’t hit your macros let’s try better next week”, instead of giving a bit more insight into what could be done to improve, so it’s really automated coaching as opposed to personal coaching. All in all it was worth a try, but if I had any suggestions to the owners of this company and the producers of this app, I would say make it a bit more explicit why you’re charging a subscription fee for the app so that users can understand what they’re going to get and what they won’t be getting by downloading this app.
