  • Makes it easier to stay well read

    By AntLills
My eternal struggle to balance staying well read is an ongoing journey... podcasts are good but it's hit & miss, then Blinkist but 15 mins on a book is not deep enough, I sometimes buy a newspaper but the quality is variable and the time investment high. Anyway, tried Curio for a week after being incessantly targeted on insta and I am loving it. Basically they select top articles from a range of publications and read them out. It gives you a variety of writing styles, subjects and political balance. It's not just the news but slower journalism too. I'd recommend it. Sex, money, mental health, war, peace, plants, gender identity etc. For example I enjoyed an article today on desire. Def worth the trial and just signed up for a subscription

The Curio app will not load on a single device on which I have tried, and no one from the company responds to emails or demands for a refund. A total bust.
  • What happened to Discover Tab??

    By JungleSports
Update (April 8, 2022): What happened to the top 50 trending list and top 50 most popular list?? I used these all the time. Please consider reinstating them! —————————————————————— I am so glad I discovered this app! I could spend hours a day listening, but that is also due to the fact that my interests are quite varied. What I wish is that the devs would find a way to insure that any story in the app would have text that would accompany the audio. I find that by following along in the text as the story is read increases my retention dramatically. It is my preferred way to consume news. The problem arises when going to the text that the magazines want you to have a subscription to them. I’m not going to be able to subscribe to 50+ magazines, nor do I want to. For example, the Economist required me to create an account so that I could view all of the text. After that, it said I only have 2 more articles this month unless I subscribe. Devs, is there a way to make sure the text to all articles is available? For myself, this would make this app indispensable and definitely worthy of Ten Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Otherwise, just continue to increase the content with even more articles from your selection of magazines (which is awesome by the way) and continue to add more interesting sources/magazines. Also, please increase the number of categories in your browse section, for example: Sports, Music, World Affairs, etc. Keep up the Great work!!! - Would like to make another minor suggestion… there doesn’t seem to be any way to see what amount you set the sleep timer to. I just tried to use it to go to sleep at the end of the story. First, I couldn’t tell if it had accepted my selection since there was no mark indicating my selection. Second, it didn’t put the phone to sleep after the story.
  • Great idea but buggy

I love their content! But their website is impossible and buggy and I can’t sign up or cancel properly. I hope they fix it!
  • Good, but Narrow

Having used the application for a few months, I can say it is somewhat slanted. A limited political spectrum gets picked. Of course, not everything is political in this application, hence review is not lower. I suspect the editors of the application are politically homogeneous. Many of the takes included in the spectrum are only from one side of the political aisle. It could be that they are catering to the audience. Personally, I would prefer a wider exposure to different publications.
