  • Gone downhill the last couple of years

I’ve been a Gaia user for a few years. Over the last few months to a year it has been a pita. Lags, won’t load the map area or takes 5-7 business days to do so under WiFi, the display is cut off on the iPhone, address that do in fact exist, won’t populate when you search for them. Mind you, yes, my app is up to date and yes, the saved files are in constant need of being updated which gets done. I would switch to OnX BUT I don’t want to pay for 2 of them as I cross between 2 out of the 3 I need for my usage. I unfortunately have no choice but to keep this over OnX until someone changes 😫
  • Horrendously crashy

Utterly nonfunctional for any navigation. Crashes instantly. Used to work, disappointing to lose it.

Sure, the free version is adequate enough to track where you’ve been. But if you want the satellite view, you have to pay a minimum of $60 a year. You’re out of your mind for that kind of price. I miss track kit pro
  • Cross platform app

One of the best cross platform apps that seemlessly updates to all your devices. Maps are detailed yet not cumbersome. Excellent user interface with easy route creation due to auto-snapping into known streets. Also very easy to share easy to export/import data and share tracks. GAIA team takes consumer input and continues to improve the product and user experience.

This app was my sole navigational source during bikepacking the Baja Divide. 1000+ miles not a single problem!!! Great app and thank you Gaia Team :D

CalTopo is way better! Gaia app just locks up. Not reliable at all!
  • Keeps forgetting credentials and you have to pay to save maps??

No idea why people pay for this. Other apps don’t require you to login again and again (which would be impossible if you didn’t have cell coverage in the back country), and you also have to pay for downloadable maps, which is a free feature in other apps.
  • Kind of frustrating click bait like

Totally new to off-road apps so I downloaded Gaia and OnX at the same time. Very different experiences. Touch anything in Gaia and you get blocked by an add to upgrade for $60. Kind of very limited use click bait kind of thing. I couldn’t try out anything without paying $60. How do I know if I even like the app? Frustrating.
  • Old version allowed free offline downloads, new requires subscription

The only real difference is this feature. And it’s very important feature considering how most people will want to download at some point. Unfortunately you’re stuck with the new version as the old version is not available for purchase anymore.
