  • Great at first until the next month starts

    By Meggie 😀
At first everything was great and I loved it. It became chaotic once a new month started and it “rolled over” I ended up doing weird negative math and it was way too confusing. The app automatically “assigns” at the beginning of the month even if it’s different than the reality of your money expenses. I’m going back to pen and paper it was less stressful.
  • Thank you YNAB!!!

I finally feel like I have financial control. Even though I’m a broke student, I am able to budget effectively and I enjoy checking my budget every day thanks to this app. I see myself using this for a long time.
  • Price too high

    By DaReviews
Price is too high. Wonder what the ceo salary is? Edit: I understand users save money in the first few months but the money they save goes to paying for the money saving service.
  • If you’re serious about budgeting, this is THE app

    By jonatcn
There are innumerable budgeting apps out there. YNAB is different. It doesn’t pretend to budget for you. Rather, it provides a framework to make budgeting for yourself an efficient, rewarding and (depending on how you get your kicks) fun process. Like most valuable things, there is a learning curve. Expect it and work at it and you will be happier for it. YNAB offers great support along the way and there’s a deeply committed community of users as well. If you’re serious about managing your personal finances, give YNAB a thorough try.
  • Great Method with One Big Flaw

    By Cody
I’ve been using this for a while now and it’s the best method and app to get control of your money. The worst part is the custom numeric keypad and entry. It doesn’t work like anything else on iOS and I mistype at least 75% of the time, and have no problems elsewhere. The amount entry also by default replaces everything instead of being a standard entry field. It’s just miserable to use, which stinks given it’s the most used part of the app for me. Oh, it’d be amazing to be able to enter transactions, even stubs, from Apple Watch.
  • Saved my marriage??

7 years of chaos - finally over! From the first week my husband and I combined our bank accounts balancing to the penny has been a pipe dream. I have been an excellent budgeter since childhood. My hubs, on the other hand, literally said he just wants to be told what to do, but then he wouldn’t do it, he had never heard of “nickel and dime’ing yourself to death”, he couldn’t visualize planning for future expenses - basically if $$$ is there $$$ can be spent. So. Many. Tears. I tried countless ways to get us on the same page and nothing was sustainable past one week because of his nature. BUT NOW!! I set everything up in YNAB, programmed his app widget, and gave him an allowance category. BALANCED TO THE PENNY IN UNDER A MONTH! The app is super easy to use, the desktop version is even better, the whole system is so flexible and intuitive… in under a month from starting I’ve already saved enough to pay the monthly app fee several times over. This has brought so much peace to my life. Use the free trial (desktop) and dink around checking out all the features; I can’t imagine who wouldn’t love the concept and functionality. I’m in, forever. 💘
  • Love this app!

I’ve been using YNAB for two months and it’s giving me visibility and a feeling of organization with my money that I’ve been wanting for a long time. When I was setting up my account, almost every unique situation that I wanted to capture in my budgeting had functionality built into address it. And they have a lot of tutorial videos with a lighthearted vibe and also share a straightforward philosophy for budgeting. I also had a very positive experience the one time I reached out to support (because there was a situation I didn’t know how to address in the software) The solution turned out to be slightly unintuitive, but fine once I knew what it was, and one of the only aspects of the app that I have found unintuitive. And the help team responded quickly and had the information I needed right away. All this has helped me set up a system that I am excited to keep using, after years of putting off budgeting. I will say that it takes work to set up and maintain, but I find myself drawn to put in that work because of the value I’m getting from it rather than dragging myself to do it as a chore. I’ve used the desktop and mobile both a fair amount. When I’m doing something more complex, I feel myself gravitating towards desktop if I can, just because it feels easier on a bigger screen. But I have found I can do almost everything I want to do on mobile as well. One place I’d love to see mobile catch up to desktop is on the reports tab. I’d love to view the reports that I can view on desktop on mobile. And I imagine some of them might be hard to design for display on a smaller screen. But I’d love to be able to see a summary of my inflows and outflows overtime as well as the pie chart of where I’m spending my money on mobile. Lastly, the price. I really don’t like to pay money for things if I can avoid it. And I had heard great things about this app, but wanted to find something free. As I was reading about other products, nothing else particularly caught my eye and I decided to just do the free trial of YNAB. It’s smart of them to let the user have a trial for a full month, because I really got to see what I can do before I had to decide to pay for it. And by the time I saw how it gave me such a feeling of knowing what’s happening with my money, I was happy to give the annual fee up in exchange for that. Thanks for this product!
  • Love the app, but ongoing price hikes are too much

    By jmarieb0724
We’ve used YNAB for several years now and LOVE IT! When we started it was $40-something dollars per year. It is now $15/mo or almost $100/year (and this is the second price change). So despite our love for how seamless this app is to work with, I am admittedly looking for another option just due to the ongoing rising cost of using it. However, for someone who doesn’t mind the cost (and risk of another increase or two), it is an AMAZING app! Easy to work with, good customer service, and super cute “loading” phrases that always make me smile. The training videos are really good too! I just don’t trust that it won’t be $120 in another year, so transitioning elsewhere seems inevitable based on our budget for this category.
  • Amazing budgeting App

I love this app, I tell all my friends to use YNAB for their budget needs. They are always improving and do a great job of integrating with my bank and making it easy to use. Highly recommend!!
  • Finally, getting my head above water.

    By Briar Guitrau
For the first time in my life I’m getting my head above water. I’m paying off debt and savings at the same time. I’m able to plan my expenses out, and spend only what I have and live in my means. I still have a long way to go but for the first time in my life, I’m able to see a small light at the end of the tunnel. I tried YNAB before, got confused and gave up. But this time around it was more personal than ever. This time around I was doing it. This time around, would be the last. I guess the only feedback I would give, is give the option for “bank import” across all apps and devices. My advice, take the time. Learn the way this works and really take a hold and have a passion to move your life.
